Been baking

In preparation to leave for the weekend (Vegas whoo-hoo!) I made some brownies. I love travel snacks and if I don't pack some goodies, I end up shopping for random food in the airport. Plus I have a feeling with the Giants in town, there will be guys around the house after the games. Here's the recipe:

1 cup (8oz) salted butter
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cocoa powder
Pinch of salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp vanilla
4 large eggs
1 1/2 cups flour

Melt the butter over low/medium heat. Remove from heat and add sugar. Reheat mixture until it has a slick shiny look to it.

Move mixture into a mixing bowl. Stir in the cocoa, salt, baking powder and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating until smooth, then add flour.

Bake at 350 in a lightly greased 9x13 pan.

Well, what did you expect? I told you the Giants are in town! Have a great weekend everyone!

My dog is spoiled

Lately I've been watching the dog treats disappear, and with 3 left in our container, I knew it was time to make more. My dog goes nuts for these, and they're healthier than a lot of treats I would normally buy in the store for him.

Mix 2 cups of flour with 1 cup of oats. I made a triple batch here because I like to stock up and some to give away.

Mix in 1/3 cup peanut butter and 1 and 1/4 cup of hot water. I just throw it all in the bowl and mix it with my hands. I would normally throw it in my Kitchen Aid mixture, but it's too thick and sticky.

Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Again I do this with my hands, way easier than actually rolling it.

Lastly punch out with a cookie cutter and bake at 400 degrees for about 25-30 min. Aren't they cute? It's so gratifying to see my dog want these babies over store-bought treats. Best part? They stay good at room temperature for 6 months! Do you have any special treats/foods you make for your pets?
